Veronika Hagen is the violist of the renowned Hagen Quartet, with whom she has been giving concerts all over the world for 40 years.

She studied at the Mozarteum University with Helmut Zehetmair and in Vienna and Hanover with Hatto Beyerle. Her regular collaboration with artists such as Gidon Kremer, Ivry Gitlis, Heinrich Schiff, Nikolaus Harnoncourt and György Kurtag has had an important influence on her playing.

Veronika Hagen also performs as a soloist in major concert halls from Europe to Japan and at prominent festivals such as Salzburg. Her chamber music partners include Mitsuko Uchida, Krystian Zimerman, Maurizio Pollini, Sabine Meyer and the Cuarteto Quiroga.

Her recording of the Brahms Sonatas with Paul Gulda was published by Deutsche Grammophon, and on the same label he recorded Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante with Augustin Dumay and the Camerata Academica Salzburg.

A member of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra, Veronika Hagen is also a professor at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg and gives numerous master classes in Europe.

After four years of playing the viola of the famous Stradivarius Paganini Quartet, generously loaned by the Nippon Foundation, she now plays a viola by J.B. Guadagnini from 1765.
