The Modigliani Quartet is a leading figure in the world of string quartets, involved both in the aesthetic reflection of the genre and in the artistic direction of several venues and festivals. In just a few months, they have taken over the Schubertian repertoire with a complete set of quartets unanimously acclaimed by the critics (choc Classica, Diapason d’Or and ffff de Télérama) and now they are going on the road to introduce us to this composer with a dazzling life.

If the Quartets No. 4 and No. 11 were composed during Schubert’s adolescence, the Quintet for two cellos, a grandiose and profound work, was composed the year of the composer’s death at the age of 31. This concert traces the passage from a youthful, carefree state to the urgency of his illness. “When we arrive at The Girl and Death, the Fifteenth Quartet or the Quintet for two cellos after having listened to and played Schubert for hours, we reach unforgettable and irreplaceable sensations,” explains Loïc Rio, second violin of the Modigliani. For the odyssey of this complete work, the first for a French quartet, is first and foremost that of immersion in a living writing. This added to the sound on the edge and the sense of colors of the Modigliani Quartet (accompanied for the occasion by Antoine Lederlin of the Belcea Quartet), there is no doubt that this last concert of the series in Gironde will not leave anyone indifferent.
