Concert in partnership with Bordeaux University

The third quartet in residence this year for Vibre! hails from Italy. Reunited in 2021, the Goldbergs have already accumulated a wealth of experience: artists-in-residence at the Fondazione Società dei Concerti in Milan, at the Ticino Festival, winners of the special jury prize at the Marcello Pontillon 2022 competition, and selected to take part in the Nuit du Quatuor 2022 in Paris.

They have chosen two profoundly contrasting works for their program. On the one hand, there’s the gravity of Mozart’s second quartet dedicated to Haydn, which, according to legend, was written on the night Constance gave birth to their first child. Here we hear the total solitude and darkness of a tormented composer.

On the other hand, the peace of Shostakovich’s Tenth Quartet balances the scales. While Mozart’s minuet offers a brief moment of hope, it is the Russian composer’s allegro that unleashes the fury of the instruments. Vibre ! has teamed up with Amine Boussa and Jeanne Azoulay’s Compagnie Chriki’Z for this work, which lends itself so well to dance. An original choreography for five dancers will accompany the Quartetto Goldberg on stage, for an original and poetic dialogue.

Program :
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, String Quartet No. 15 in D minor K 421
Dmitri Shostakovich, String Quartet No. 10 in A flat major, Op. 118
