Founded in Copenhagen in 2018, the NOVO Quartet is one of Denmark’s most promising young ensembles. Currently based in Oslo and Copenhagen, the quartet consists of violinists Kaya Kato Møller and Nikolai Vasili Nedergaard, violist Daniel Śledziński and cellist Signe Ebstrup Bitsch.
The quartet recently won the 1st prize and the audience prize at the International String Quartet Competition of the Irene Steels-Wilsing Foundation 2023. Other successes include 2nd prize and special jury prize at the Trondheim International String Quartet Competition 2021, the Léonie Sonning Talent Award 2021 and the Danish Radio P2 Chamber Music Competition 2020.
The NOVO Quartet is currently studying at the Norwegian Academy of Music in the ECMAster programme under the guidance of professors Are Sandbakken, Torleif Thedéen and Bjørg Lewis. The quartet as a whole was a student of Johannes Meissl at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna and of Tim Frederiksen at the Royal Danish Academy of Music. The quartet was inspired by Hatto Beyerle, Valentin Erben (Alban Berg Quartet), Heime Müller (Artemis Quartet), Patrick Jüdt and the Danish String Quartet.
The NOVO Quartet enjoys giving concerts all over Denmark and has also performed in countries such as China, the United States, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Norway, Sweden and Greenland.
