Miksi : Nicolas Lescombe (France), clarinet, arrangements, coordination / Artur Zeqiri (Albania), violin, vocals / Ebrahim Ahmadi (Kurdistan), daf and vocals / Yamen Al Yamani (Syria), cello / Thomas Mazellier (France), violin, beatmaker

Pygmalion : Julien Léonard, viole de gambe / Myriam Rignol, viole de gambe

At the crossroads between Balkan sounds and baroque music, Miksi & Pygmalion is first and foremost a meeting of artists from different backgrounds. It all started with the initiative of the European project against glottophobia, “Migrants Music Manifesto”. Nicolas Lescombe and Thomas Mazellier from Bordeaux met the Albanian Artur Zeqiri, the Iranian Kurd Ebrahim Ahmadi and the Syrian Yamen Al Yamani. Even if they did not understand each other, they all spoke the same universal language, that of music. Miksi (mixture in Esperanto) was born in September 2020.

After a joint concert in June, two gambists from the Pygmalion Orchestra joined the quintet. Julien Léonard and Myriam Rignol complete an eclectic collective. This is the ‘Mosaic’ project. When European viola da gamba and clarinet meet Middle Eastern percussion, all that is missing is a voice to embody the performance. There will be three. The female vocal trio Tsanta, adept at minimalist polyphony, will add a touch of lyricism to the performance. (source department Gironde)
