Opéra National de Bordeaux | L'Auditorium de l'Opéra
8 - 13 Cours Georges Clemenceau
Bordeaux

Located in the heart of the city’s historic center, the Auditorium de l’Opéra National de Bordeaux opened its doors on January 24, 2013. Spectacular in its structure and acoustics (the work of Belgian acoustics expert Eckhard Kahle), this highly qualified venue offers programming as prestigious as it is eclectic.

Directed by Emmanuel Hondré, General Director of the Opéra National de Bordeaux, the Orchestre Nationale de Bordeaux Aquitaine’s residency here has opened up new prospects for the group since its opening, enabling it both to expand its repertoire to include works unthinkable at the Grand-Théâtre due to the size of the orchestra pit, and to perfect the match between repertoire and venue.

Financed by the city of Bordeaux, with the support of the French government and the Aquitaine regional council, and designed by music-loving architect Michel Pétuaud-Létang, this new temple to music – seating 1,440 and boasting the largest orchestra pit in Europe – offers audiences masterpieces of musical literature and new works, promoting exchanges with musicians and opening up to jazz…

Since its opening, the Auditorium de l’Opéra National de Bordeaux has welcomed many prestigious artists, including Lang Lang, Karita Mattila, Jordi Savall, Anne Gastinel…
