Luc-Marie Aguera

After beginning his musical studies in Rouen, Luc-Marie Aguera had a decisive encounter with the pedagogue and violinist Dominique Hoppenot. He then entered the Conservatoire National de Musique de Paris in the class of Gérard Jarry, where he was awarded First Prizes in violin and chamber music.

Passionate about the string quartet, he joined the Quatuor Ysaÿe, with whom he shared an intense musical adventure spanning thirty years that took him throughout the musical world.

He subsequently met many leading musicians and shared the stage with Jean-Claude Pennetier, Martin Lovett, Valentin Erben, Isabelle Faust, János Starker, Michel Portal, Hatto Beyerle, Yovan Markovitch, Nelson Freire, Gary Hoffman, Frans Helmerson, Alain Meunier, Nicolas Angelich, Jean-Guihen Queyras, Anne Le Bozec, and Miklós Perényi.

A dedicated teacher, he teaches violin in Rouen and string quartet in Paris, and is invited to give masterclasses in Amsterdam and Berlin, at the Bordeaux String Quartet Festival, the Frenswegen Sommer Akademie (Germany), the Orlando Festival, the Aldeburgh Festival (England), the Scuola di Fiesole, the “Virtuoso e Belcanto” Festival in Lucca, and each summer at the Académie Musique à Flaine.
