______________________________
Organised for the four invited quartets (Ast Quartet, Integra Quartet, Quatuor Métamorphoses and Prometheus Quartet), the Vibre! master classes draw on the expertise and experience of the festival’s artistic directors to create a programme specifically tailored to their needs. Led by members of the Quatuor Modigliani, Hélène Clément (former Doric Quartet) and Luc-Marie Aguera (former Quatuor Ysaÿe), these instrumental practice master classes aim to develop technique, harmonic understanding, musical intent and interpretation of works that the participants may subsequently present at international competitions.
This support comes at a pivotal moment in the young quartets’ careers, between the end of their studies and the beginning of professional life. Some master classes will be open to the public.
Professional workshops
Alongside the instrumental practice master classes, thematic workshops are organised to help emerging quartets navigate the professional environment of classical music.
Dedicated work on quartet repertoire and aesthetics will be led by musicologist Jean-Michel Molkhou. A violinist and music critic for the journals Diapason and Classica, and the author of several reference works on the violin and the string quartet, he will guide each young quartet through a process of attentive listening and reflection on the aesthetics of interpretation.
