Compagnie Les Schini’s

LES SCHINI’S is a contemporary dance company strongly influenced by physical theatre.

Mélodie Cecchini and Gaëtan Boschini—dancers and choreographers—literally combined their names to create LES SCHINI’S in 2017. Based in Bordeaux, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, they develop their concept at the crossroads of live performance, audiovisual creation, and the transmission of their teaching methods.

Drawing on their past experience as performers, as well as the artistic and human network they have built over time, they create and take part in projects with regional and European reach.

Since 2019, the company has been in residence at Lieu Sans Nom in Bordeaux, where they develop their creative projects and organize various events for movement artists from Bordeaux and beyond.

Thanks to their European presence, LES SCHINI’S leverage their international network of dancers to create and strengthen connections between movement practitioners, regardless of their backgrounds.

Today, Mélodie Cecchini and Gaëtan Boschini are surrounded by an ever-growing community of artists that continues to diversify creatively.

Together, they develop a constantly evolving repertoire of works, while also questioning both creative processes and the more traditional formats in which they themselves have evolved, particularly as performers.

Gaëtan Boschini

Gaëtan is a dancer, choreographer, and a collector of ideas, encounters, and movements. He initiated the company’s first project, Nivette (2018), which brought together a Franco-Spanish artistic team.

He began dancing at the age of 25. Two years later, he joined the Seed’s training program in Spain, directed by Peter Mika and Olga Cobos, where he worked with numerous choreographers such as Anton Lachky, Roberto Olivan, Hofesh Shechter, and Laly Ayguade.

Quickly recognized, he joined the Cobosmika company for the piece NMNW, as well as Alain Gruttadauria’s company La Licorne, touring across Europe.

Driven by questions around staging, movement narration, and gesture, he turned toward physical theatre and trained with the Théâtre du Mouvement, led by Claire Heggen and Yves Marc.

In 2017, he co-founded LES SCHINI’S. Alongside this, he develops the project Intuitif Concept, through which he applies his skills as a videographer, creating artistic films for various companies.

Mélodie Cecchini

Mélodie is a dancer, choreographer, and observer of gestures, bodies, and situations. She initiated the project Id.entité(2013, Barcelona), using contemporary dance as a tool for personal development.

After training for three years with Anna Sanchez, she began her professional dance career in 2009 with the Cobosmika company in Spain, where she performed in four productions until 2017.

At the same time, she took part in numerous international projects led by choreographers such as Akram Khan, Hofesh Shechter, and Sharon Fridman.

She has also collaborated on performances with artists such as Pere Martinez and the flamenco group Los Aurora, pianist Max Villavecchia, and illustrator José-Luis Blasco.

Invited to share her perspective in many dance training centers across Europe, she passes on her experience and her taste for spontaneity.
