The quartet has studied with leading figures of chamber music and already performs across Europe and the United States.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"382\" data-end=\"863\">This year, it joins the Integra, Ast, and M\u00e9tamorphoses quartets in residence in Bordeaux for Vibre! and will perform in the chapter hall of the <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Cour Mably<\/span><\/span> another piece from <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Joseph Haydn<\/span><\/span>\u2019s Op. 33 <em data-start=\"631\" data-end=\"651\">\u201cRussian Quartets\u201d<\/em>: No. 2, subtitled <em data-start=\"670\" data-end=\"683\">\u201cThe Joke.\u201d<\/em> Like <em data-start=\"689\" data-end=\"701\">\u201cThe Bird\u201d<\/em> or <em data-start=\"705\" data-end=\"723\">\u201cHow Do You Do?\u201d<\/em>, the Austrian composer delights here in unsettling the listener, interrupting or shifting motifs and surprising with unexpected silences.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"865\" data-end=\"1469\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">After this demonstration of the humor of the father of the classical string quartet, the Prometheus Quartet will perform the <em data-start=\"990\" data-end=\"1002\">\u201cAmerican\u201d<\/em> Quartet by <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Anton\u00edn Dvo\u0159\u00e1k<\/span><\/span>, composed in 1893 while the musician was serving as musical director in New York. Weary of the big city, he settled in the small Czech community of Spillville, where he wrote a quartet reflecting his discoveries of the traditional music of Native American and African American communities.
