Founded in 2003, the Modigliani Quartet is recognized as one of the most sought-after string quartets of our time.<\/p>\n

It performs regularly in major international concert series and on the world\u2019s most prestigious stages.<\/p>\n

From the 2025\/26 season onward, the Modigliani Quartet will be ensemble-in-residence at Radio France. As part of this residency, the quartet will present two string quartet concerts each year, as well as one chamber music concert with invited musicians. The residency will culminate in the premiere of a new work commissioned from composer Philippe Manoury.<\/p>\n

Other highlights of the season include a North American tour in autumn 2025, with concerts in renowned venues such as Carnegie Hall and Philadelphia\u2019s Kimmel Center, followed by an extensive tour of Asia with performances in South Korea, China, and Singapore. In Europe, the quartet appears in major halls including the Alte Oper Frankfurt, Hamburg\u2019s Laeiszhalle, the Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon, and Amsterdam\u2019s Concertgebouw.<\/p>\n

Since 2020, the quartet has served as artistic director of the string quartet festival \u201cVibre! Quatuors \u00e0 Bordeaux\u201d as well as the prestigious \u201cInternational String Quartet Competition of Bordeaux.\u201d The ensemble is also the founder and artistic director of the Saint-Paul-de-Vence Festival, a role it has held since 2011. Since autumn 2023, the musicians have been mentors at the \u00c9cole Normale de Musique de Paris Alfred Cortot.<\/p>\n

The Modigliani Quartet has recorded for the Mirare label since 2008 and has released 13 critically acclaimed albums. In January 2024, their latest recording, devoted to the string quartets of Grieg and Smetana, was released to enthusiastic international press reception: \u201cThe Modigliani Quartet brings these works of great emotional intensity to life with energy, color, and radiant passion.\u201d (Rondo<\/em>, January 2024). This recording was also included in the \u201cPreis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik\u201d list of Bestsellers 2-2024 (chamber music category). Since 2024, the Modigliani Quartet has been devoting itself to one of the greatest challenges in a string quartet\u2019s life: recording the complete cycle of Beethoven\u2019s 16 string quartets.<\/p>\n

Thanks to the generosity and support of private patrons, the Modigliani Quartet has the privilege of playing four exceptional Italian instruments:<\/p>\n

Amaury Coeytaux plays a 1715 Stradivarius violin,
Lo\u00efc Rio plays a 1780 Giovanni Battista Guadagnini violin,
Laurent Marfaing plays a 1660 viola by Luigi Mariani,
Fran\u00e7ois Kieffer plays a 1706 cello by Matteo Goffriller.<\/p>\n
