The Quartetto Eos, selected as winner of the Farulli Award by the music criticism “Franco Abbiati” 2018, was founded in 2016 following the encounter of four young musicians (Elia Chiesa – 1998 and Giacomo Del Papa – 1998 violins, Alessandro Acqui – 1996 viola, Silvia Ancarani – 2000 cello) at the Concervatorio S. Cecilia in Rome.
The quartet has participated in various chamber music masterclasses with Maestros like Francesco Fiore, Emil Rovner, Alfred Brendel, Eckart Runge (Quartetto Artemis), Patrick Juedt (ECMA), Lawrence Dutton (Quartetto Emerson), Marcello Bufalini and the Jerusalem Quartet. Though they have recently formed up, other than collaborating with Calogero Palermo, Gustavo Nuñez (first clarinet and first bassoon of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra) and the Jerusalem Quartet, they have performed at the Academic Hall of the Conservatorio di S. Cecilia, at the Seraphicum Auditorium, the Teatro Off Off, the Palazzo Spada in Rome, the Teatro Garibaldi in Caserta, within the field of prestigious festivals such as “Musica in Collina”, “Luci della ribalta”, “L’Accademia in Monferrato”.
Moreover, the quartet collaborates periodically with important musical institutions like Società del Quartetto di Milano, Istituzione Universitaria dei Concerti (IUC), Gioventù Musicale d’Italia, Associazione Mozart Italia of Terni and Associazione Filarmonica Umbra. In 2018 it was invited as guest to the radio transmissions “Radio3 Suite” and “La Stanza della Musica” (RaiRadio3).
In 2019 they received a special mention as part of the National Competition for String Quartets “Sergio Dragoni” for which they will perform at an award concert within the 2020 season of IIC in Tirana.
In 2017 the Quartetto Eos has been selected to take part into the network of Le Dimore del Quartetto and it was admitted to the Course for Advanced Musical Studies for String Quartets in the Quartetto di Cremona’s class at the Stauffer Academy.
Giacomo Del Papa plays a violin Riccardo Antoniazzi from the Fondazione Antonio Carlo Monzino.
